Visitor Centre

Located in Denham Country Park near Uxbridge, the visitor centre is the central information point for the whole of the Colne Valley Regional Park. It is staffed by volunteers and currently has around 25,000 visitors a year.

Walks from The Colne Valley visitor Centre: We highly recommend our short and easy access circular route from the Visitor Centre towards the Grand Union Canal. This route is approx 1.3 miles (2km). Download the map below here, or take a photograph of the map in Denham Country Park when you arrive.

If you are interested in learning more about things to do in the Colne Valley Regional Park, visit the centre for up-to-date leaflets on walks, events, activities and places to visit. And why not take a refreshment stop at the Riverside Café while you are here and take a look at our new menu below. Dogs are always very welcome, too; but please do not bring them into the main part of the café.

Adventure Zone

Children love the Adventure zone at Denham Country Park. Designed to reflect the environment of Denham Country Park with a Canal barge sand pit and wooden climbing challenges. It provides fun for all children up to 12 years old, some approach it as an obstacle course and some use each climbing or clambering item of equipment as a unique task whilst many younger ones are happy to bring a bucket and spade for the sand pit. However, they choose to enjoy the zone it provides a challenge for their imagination as well as a chance for exercise and outdoor play.

Amenities

There is the Adventure Zone, featured above, which is a large wooden playground that includes a sandpit.

There is a brass-rubbing trail.

There is also a pretty, easy access, countryside walk of approximately one mile, that takes you through a wetland meadow, a woodland and past two rivers and the Grand Union Canal.

There is a gentle sloping access to the Misbourne Chalk Stream outside the cafe, which is an ideal spot to go river dipping. Look out for expert-led river dipping sessions in the school holidays.

Toilets, including disabled and baby changing facilities, are available on site.

Events at the Visitor Centre, Denham

The Groundwork Team organises events all year round at the Visitor Centre. These range from activities to occupy children during the holidays that take full advantage of our country setting.

But if you would rather do something on your own – a self guided walk for instance – we can advise on that, too. Here are some of the walks you can take from the Visitor Centre, suitable for all ages 4+, with maps sold at £1. Call 01895 833375 for more details.
