One donation, twice the impact 22-29 April
We are excited to be part of the Big Give’s Earth Raise this year.
We are raising money for our Corridor for Life Campaign which aims to protect and enhance the Colne Valley Regional Park for both wildlife and people.
One donation, twice the impact 22-29 April: Donations made to the Colne Valley Regional Park via theBigGive.org.uk will be doubled during the campaign. If you would like to support our work this year, we highly recommend doing so during Earth Raise, when your donation will be doubled and make an even greater difference in helping us protect, enhance, and promote our precious landscape.
The donate button will appear on the campaign page when Earth Raise launches.
Protecting the Colne Valley Regional Park
The Park plays a vital role in providing access to the countryside and green space for more than three million people who live within 10 miles of its borders. By increasing awareness of this beautiful but fragile landscape, we hope we can protect and preserve the Park for future generations to enjoy.
Situation
We are seeking funding to shore up our role as champions of the Colne Valley Regional Park (CVRP); responding to unprecedented development pressure and working to ensure the Park, with its beautiful landscapes, crucial river networks, and varied ecosystems, is protected for future generations to enjoy.
Over the last 15 years there has been a surge of huge development proposals. The lack of a co-ordinated approach to managing these, and no plan for restoration of remaining Green Belt, means national government and local councils are sleepwalking into losing the Colne Valley Regional Park.
People who live in South West Herts, South Bucks, Hillingdon, East Berkshire and North Surrey frequently tell us they don’t like this rapidly increasing amount of uncontrolled development – they want their local parks, rivers, woods and green spaces to be restored, not compromised or lost altogether. No-one should accept this decline, and we are actively campaigning for a better future and we believe that with the right approach it is still within our grasp.
Solution
We’ll address this problem by actively responding to planning applications and developments, campaigning hard to encourage positive policies that are conscious of the local environment/wildlife. We aim to reach and inform figures of influence (e.g. local MPs, national government, and local council leaders) championing and highlighting the CVRP as a crucial asset. We will also build a compelling evidence base and produce new resources in support of our work on behalf of the Park.
