Looking Back and Moving Forward for the Colne Valley Regional Park

The last 15 years haven’t been easy for the Colne Valley Regional Park — we’ve seen the Green Belt weakened, funding for environmental protection and enforcement decline, and the introduction of clumsily worded ‘grey belt’.

But here’s the good news: We are feeling optimistic about 2026!

👉 2025 was a year of government stepping up to say positive words about the Colne Valley Regional Park, thanks to tremendous support and concerted effort from our nine local MPs.

👉 In 2026, they have the chance to turn those words into real action to protect and restore this amazing landscape for people and wildlife.

And there’s more to celebrate:

🌱 CVRP Trust is stronger than ever — core funding is up, and we welcomed four fantastic new trustees this year.

🌱 Projects are thriving:

💰 We secured £200k to develop a £5m Lottery application.

🤝 Working with Arup to make the case for National Highways funding.

🌊 Groundwork’s rivers team delivering great work across the wider Colne Catchment.

🌳 Green spaces team increasing delivery, including many more corporate volunteering days.

🌟 New Landscape Recovery initiative making a big impact and engaging lots of people.
