MEET THE FARMER – WALK & TALK WITH Woodoaks tenant farmer JOHN WHITBY. Friday 1st August 2-4pm: John was featured on the recent episode BBC’s Countryfile talking about the farming his family do at Woodoaks. This is your chance to meet him in person and take in the sights and sounds of the land he farms as well as learning about what farming life involves.

This Colne Valley Festival Fortnight Event will be a guided walk and talk led by a Colne Valley Park Farmer at Woodoaks Farm.

Join farmer John Whitby of Rowley Farm for a walk and talk of Woodoaks Farm. Take in the sights and sounds of this picturesque landscape as well as learning about what it involves to transition to  organic farming life.

What to wear and bring: Please make sure to dress according to weather condition. Wear a sturdy boots as the ground may be wet and slippery in some places, bring water and on a hot day make sure to wear a hat and put on sunscreen.

In extreme weather condition, the event may be cancelled.

Walk led by:  John Whitby, Local Farmer/Rowley Farm and Chairman of the Colne Valley Park Trust

Accessibility: not suitable for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility.

Kids and dog friendly: Children welcome however note that this is an approximately 4-5 kms: likely just over 4 km walk so small legs might struggle. Dogs on lead welcome.

Meeting location: Woodoaks Farm Car Park Leaving promptly. Free parking on site.

In 2023 the Meet the Farmer session was well received despite the rain
