24th March 2020

Groundwork South, who are the managing agent of the Colne Valley Regional Park, are closely monitoring the current coronavirus situation and we would like to reassure our visitors and volunteers that your health and wellbeing is our absolute priority.

This will mean that many of our events will be cancelled or postponed. We will be able to deliver some of our events online and we urge you to follow us on social media for updates. We will also be working on downloadable materials to help families and individuals to engage with Nature during this difficult time.

Update 24th of March

Based on the newest government advice, we should now all STAY AT HOME. Now is the perfect time to appreciate all the little things nature gives us, whether it’s from your garden, balcony or your window. During this difficult time Colne Valley Regional Park will aim to help you get inspired by the beauty of nature.

We urge everyone to be responsible. Where possible : Stay at home – Protect the NHS – Save lives.

Volunteer River Rangers

We have decided to cancel all remaining volunteer opportunities (river walks and riverfly surveys). This is an important decision to ensure the safety of our volunteers and minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

Instead of outdoor volunteering we will be hosting a series of free workshops and tutorials online to help us stay connected and improve people’s wellbeing.

For more information see the newsletter

We have also issued more general guidance here

Places in the Colne Valley

Nature is very  important for our physical and mental health during stressful times. Based on the newest government advice (dated 24th of March) we are allowed to go out for exercise once a day (only with your household members or alone). This might be the perfect opportunity to explore the hidden nature gems around your corner. Please note, we recommend being strict with this, only go out for your daily exercise and avoid contact with other people.

Before heading out: because the Government advice changes frequently, we always advise you to check their website here: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Remember to stay safe, wash your hands and STAY AT HOME.  Now it is time to appreciate nature. Breathe in fresh air, listen to the birds singing, watch the spring season, soak up the sunshine and enjoy the little things in life. This can all be done from your home. Stay at home – Protect the NHS – Save lives.
