Maple Lodge

Join us for a volunteer day at Maple Lodge and let’s celebrate Volunteer Week together.

Here in the Colne Valley we value the work that volunteers do to help maintain and improve areas of the Colne Valley Regional Park.

To celebrate volunteer week 2019 (1st of June to 7th June) we will be running a series of enjoyable and informative sessions that are open and free to attend. Sessions will include guided nature walks, river and air quality survey workshops and practical habitat conservation.

Maple Lodge Conservation Day – Come and join us for half a day of practical habitat conservation  at Maple Lodge Marsh followed by a guided walk around the otherwise members only Maple Lodge Nature Reserve.

Dates and times: 6th June.
Habitat conservation: 10:00-12:30.
Guided walk: 13:00-14:30.

Come and join us for half a day of conservation activities followed by a guided nature walk at Maple Lodge nature reserve.

The morning session will take place at the private Thames Water site of Maple Lodge Marsh and will involve practical habitat conservation. You will be helping build a stag beetle loggery for one of the UK’s most vulnerable insects as well as helping with vegetation clearance. This session starts at 10 and finishes at 12:30. The meeting point for this session is outside the pedestrian entrance to Maple Lodge Marsh opposite the nature reserve.

The afternoon session involves a guided nature walk around the otherwise members only Maple Lodge nature reserve opposite. This will be run by the Maple Lodge Conservation Society and you will hopefully encounter a variety of different wildlife. This session starts at 13:00 and finishes at 14:30 and the meeting point is outside the nature reserve entrance.

If you would like to attend both halves of the day and have lunch inbetween then please register for both the morning and afternoon session. You will have to bring a packed lunch as this is not provided. You are also able to join for either half of the day by only registering for one session. Children over 3 years old are welcome but a lot of the morning activities will involve manual conservation work.
