Join us for a free fun taster session and learn how to catch and identify freshwater creatures to show you the health of a river system.

The Anglers’ Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (ARMI) is a UK-wide citizen science programme involving over a thousand volunteers who volunteer to protect the quality of their local rivers. Come and join us at Denham Country Park for a workshop on riverfly survey techniques. Learn how to catch and identify freshwater creatures to show you the health of a river system. This event will be run by the Groundwork South and Colne Valley Fisheries Consultative and the meeting point will be outside the cafe at Denham Country Park.

In the taster session you will learn:

• The theory of the riverfly initiative and how it helps improve rivers

• How to complete a kick sample a river

• How to identify river invertebrates and score a sample

• What to do with the data you collect

• Practise riverfly survey

Spaces are limited so get you name down now for this exciting opportunity! Children over 3 are welcome to tag along if accompanied by an adult although the workshop is geared towards learning the survey techniques.
