The Wild Food Project
Wild Food: Nature Provides is a Lottery funded project aiming to involve local communities in learning the skills of foraging and identifying common wild food plants.
Activities such as walks, talks, demonstrations and foraging/cookery workshops will be held throughout the year to help raise awareness of wild food and the value it can bring in the local communities of the project area of Colne Valley Park, Slough and Hillingdon.
The wild food project will aim to have a presence at local festivals and fayres as well as activities at schools, children centres, and allotment associations.
The project also offers horticultural therapy for people with disabilities to enable them to gain stimulation through planting and propagating.
In addition, the project will strive to develop sustainability through social enterprise of processing wild food into products such as jams, preserves, and cordials.
For more information please contact the Wild Food Officer, Fiona Brewer, on 01895 832 850 or email fiona.brewer@groundwork.org.uk
