Volunteering

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the Colne Valley Park if you have some spare time, want to learn new skills or share some talents of your own.  Below are the volunteer positions we have available at present.

    Colne Valley Visitor Centre Volunteer Assistant

If you like variety and meeting people then this is the job for you.  With direction from the Visitor Centre Manager you will help operate the information centre and cafe.  This will involve serving refreshments to visitors and providing information on local walks and things to see and do.  Tasks you may be involved with would include weekly stock takes, insuring leaflet racks are full and displays are clean and tidy, answering the telephone, total shop takings at the end of the day and ensuring the cafe is clean and shleves well stocked.  If you would like a more detailed job description click on the blue job title above.  Contact the Visitor Centre Manager on 01895 833375 for more information.

  Colne Valley Events and Activities Volunteer

If you like getting involved actively and helping adults and children learn new things then this is the job for you.  Being an events and activity volunteer means you could be working with a professional tutor to deliver an arts and crafts activity, helping to organise our annual festival, crew a canal boat or assist a river dipping session looking for minibeasts.  You would work with the Colne Valley Countryside Officer at times to suit you who can be contacted on 01895 839855 for more information.

  Walk Leader Volunteer

If you enjoy walking and know which way round to hold a map this is the job for you.  we need walk leaders to take people on walks around established walk routes.  You will be provided with training and information on the surrounding landscape and be in contact with the Colne Valley Countryside Officer via a mobile phone during the course of the walk.  We already have a team of walk leaders at work who will share their experience and enthusiasm with you.  It's a great way to share a day out in the varied landscape of the Colne Valley.  Contact the Colne Valley Countryside Officer for more information on 01895 839855.
