Volunteering

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the Colne Valley Park if you have some spare time, want to learn new skills or share some talents of your own.  Below are the volunteer positions we have available at present.

V Volunteering

Title: Environmental project assistant
Salary: Claim up to £85 per week living expenses.
Location: Colne Valley Park Centre, Denham
Part/Full Time: 4 days per week for 6 months

Role

• To assist with the organising, promoting and delivering major weekend events including the Colne Valley Festival and the celebration of local food.
• To assist with the day to day running of the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre including volunteer management, shop, stock taking, displays and interpretation
• Marketing the Garden Room – designing and producing a brochure, mailing out, getting bookings
• Secure funding and get Visitor Centre refitted with blinds, repainting, new chairs for the garden room.
• To assist staff with delivery of projects throughout the Colne Valley Park. To include Hardings Row Nature Reserve, River Colne habitat creation, Trout Lane access barriers, South Bucks landscaping.
• To co-ordinate a project to turn the neglected raised beds outside the visitor centre into a herb garden to supply the emerging Colne Valley Park food hub. To include designing, researching costs, securing funding and developing a maintenance schedule.

Colne Valley Visitor Centre Volunteer Assistant

If you like variety and meeting people then this is the job for you.  With direction from the Visitor Centre Manager you will help operate the information centre and cafe.  This will involve serving refreshments to visitors and providing information on local walks and things to see and do.  Tasks you may be involved with would include weekly stock takes, insuring leaflet racks are full and displays are clean and tidy, answering the telephone, total shop takings at the end of the day and ensuring the cafe is clean and shleves well stocked.  If you would like a more detailed job description click on the blue job title above.  Contact the Visitor Centre Manager on 01895 833375 for more information.

Walk Leader Volunteer

If you enjoy walking and know which way round to hold a map this is the job for you.  we need walk leaders to take people on walks around established walk routes.  You will be provided with training and information on the surrounding landscape and be in contact with the Colne Valley Countryside Officer via a mobile phone during the course of the walk.  We already have a team of walk leaders at work who will share their experience and enthusiasm with you.  It's a great way to share a day out in the varied landscape of the Colne Valley.  Contact the Colne Valley Project Officer for more information on 01895 839855.
