Self Guided Walks

These are walks you can do any time that suits you, just download and print from this web site or pick up a leaftlet from the Visitor Centre.

Short walks

These walks vary from 1½ to 5 miles and are an easy way to start exploring the Colne Valley. An information booklet is available from the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre, and the individual walks can be downloaded as PDF files.

Country Parks

There are a number of these attractive spots which are popular because of their networks of well signed, surfaced paths and picnic or play areas. For example Black Park Country Park, Bayhurst Wood Country Park, see Top Attractions for a complete list.

woodpeckerLinear Walks

Two longer linear walks are also available. Both routes are well signed and detailed descriptive leaflets are available from the Visitor Centre. You can also find more information from the Long Distance Walkers Association.

Colne Valley Trail

This covers the northern end of the Valley.

Colne Valley Way

This covers the southern end of the Valley.

Regional Routes

A number of routes pass through the Colne Valley such as the Grand Union Canal Walk from London to Birmingham, the South Bucks Way and Beeches Way, and the Hillingdon Trail.

Ramble and Ride: A set of four leaflets has been devised giving attractive routes starting and finishing at railway stations. There is also a comprehensive network of footpaths and bridleways which can be used when devising your own route.
