The main line of the Grand Union Canal passes through the Colne Valley on route to Birmingham and London. Picturesque locks, canal side buildings, woods and good view of open countryside make the canal an interesting way to see the Colne Valley whether on foot or pleasure cruising. There are numerous access points and several inns, restaurants and car parks along the canal side. Cyclists can also enjoy the canal towpath, however a permit must be obtained from British Waterways.
