Actions and Vision for the Colne Valley Regional Park 2006-2009

Much of the Valley is privately owned and the speed at which many improvements can be made will depend on the decisions of the major landowners and the availability of funding. However, this document sets out the Partners' vision for the area, along with more detailed project-based information which will form the basis of the next three years work programmes.

The Action Plan contains a brief introduction to the Park, an appraisal of the current situation and a list of the general objectives. It also contains a detailed map showing the boundary of the Park and our constituant authorities.

This plan is a non-statutory document that should be read in conjunction with the relevant development plans. The park is covered by a number of non-statutory plans and these have been considered in the preparation of this document.

The need for an action plan

To build on the success of the Colne Valley Park 40th Anniversary celebrations
To tie together and build on the works of local authorities within their geographical areas
To ensure that park-wide projects are executed in a co-ordinated and efficient manner
To link into the "Countryside in and around towns" vision produced by the Countryside Agency and Groundwork and build the Colne Valley Parks position as an "exemplar" of how this vision can be implemented
